There's A Snake in My Toilet
By Nate Feldman There's a Snake in my Toilet is a 1995 young adult's book about a fifth grader, Oliver Sullivan, who is being tormented by a bully, D.K., who lives in the same apartment complex. To make matters worse, the other students, and even some of the teachers, are giving him a hard time as well. He is intimidated by D.K. and will do anything to avoid him. One day, Oliver discovers a snake coming out of the toilet in his bathroom. When he alerts other people in his apartment complex, it begins a media frenzy that brings over local media as well as workers from the town's SPCA. The debacle with the snake gives Oliver an opportunity to show everyone that he is in fact not afraid and is a strong person. This story has a unique way of going into the issue of bullying at school amidst an amusing situation with the snake crawling out of his toilet. I give it four-and-a-half out of five stars.
